IDNY @ B&B Italia, February 11, 2009
Posted by Jenny Rector
What blizzard? Last Thursday, despite Wednesday’s mammoth storm, Designer Pages threw the biggest meetup yet. IDNY @ B&B Italia drew a crowd of 300+ designers and design enthusiasts. Unfazed by a bit of snow, the crowd gathered amidst high-end Italian design to hear about cool products and people in architecture and design - and of course to mingle.
Benan Ozakbas from B&B Italia presented Naoto Fukasawa’s work for the company – from objects in 2005 to the most recent Grande Papilio, debuted at Salone del Mobile last year. Daniel Moyer (Daniel Moyer Design & Fabrication) provided a glimpse into the life of a “baby” designer through some short videos – and of course the assembly of his new DPTable a flat pack table named after none other than Designer Pages. Gwathmey Siegel’s Senior Associate Greg Karn talked about the design concept behind the W Hoboken. And finally, Designer Pages co-founder and CEO Jacob Slevin demoed Product Wars, the new “Hot or Not” website for products that went live on Thursday morning.
Thanks to Abita beer and Boyd & Blair vodka, drinks were aplenty! Thank them via twitter - and become a fan on facebook - to ensure more in the future.
For a recap, check out this month’s gossip newsletter: Last Night’s Meetup, videos of the presentations by Greg Karn and Daniel Moyer on Vimeo, and photos on Flickr.
Next month’s meetup: IDNY Meetup with Boym Partners at Herman Miller. RSVP early since space is limited!
