Success has struck again with IDNY’s meetup at Knoll
Posted by Kanaan Gennerette Oliver
Thursday, December 10th, Designer Pages hosted our 4th IDNY meetup at the Knoll showroom on 9th Ave. The showroom was absolutely gorgeous with plenty of seating to go around, not to mention the view was breathtaking. Santa Claus himself was so gracious to stop by and brighten up our event with his holiday cheer. Chris Graham of Knoll kicked off our design talks with a presentation of the new Generation Chair. She was very informative about the composition of the chair, along with the various seating arrangements the chair can be put into. I personally enjoyed the “straddle” position above all else! Jason Horvath and Bill Hilgendorf, of Uhuru Design, shared some of their work with us, in particular the “Stoolen,” collection. Each piece is composed of scrap pieces of wood or metal found around their neighborhood or in their workshop. I enjoyed hearing the two speak about their fascination with using everyday pieces of junk and transforming it into works of beauty. And lastly Andre Kikoski, designer of The Wright restaurant at the Guggenheim Museum, showed us the process behind designing this beautiful space.
Didn’t make it this month? Well you don’t have to miss out on the action. Take a look at our Flickr gallery, along with Chris Graham’s demonstration and Uhuru’s presentaion. We look forward to seeing you at our January 14th meetup at Heller. Mark your calendars!
