Not another manic Monday at Designer Pages!
Posted by Kanaan Gennerette Oliver
After a successful INDY meetup and a long Thanksgiving weekend, the team is back in the office today. Stuffed full of turkey and ready to work, immediately we were graced with amazing reviews of our Durivat event. Office News Wire and Dexigner featured the IDNY meetup in today’s publication. We are all very excited and thankful for the press. (Please feel free to keep it comin’!)
Today we are putting the final touches on our December 10th meetup at theKnoll Showroom. Knoll, who is “recognized internationally for creating workplace furnishings that inspire, evolve and endure,” creates modern office furniture that leaves tiny carbon footprints behind. Being that I sit in a chair, staring at a computer screen all day, I am anxious to test drive the Generation Chair. Besides a comfy sit, I want to play with the Zapper Monitor Arm Collection. After the lounging and testing, Bill Hilgendorf and Jason Harvath, co-founders of Uhuru Design, and Andre Kikoski, principal of Andre Kikoski Architect, will share brief presentations. Uhuru Design creates and manufactures hand made sustainable products. Whether “reclaimed, recycled, repurposed, reused or otherwise rejected from their original function,” Hilgendorf and Harvath can transform anything into an item of beauty; similar to Andre Kikoski’s design of Suba restaurant. This tapas lounge created the illusion of being in an enchanted forest while being in the Lower East Side.
With drinks provided by Abita beer and Veev, compelling design talks and another raffle to die for, I’m getting excited for the next IDNY meetup. If you haven’t already RSVPed, please do so. Also, check out our new INDY trailer and take a peek at our Flickr gallery. Missed previous meetups? Don’t fret, you can watch all of our design talks here!
