We launched the site on September 1st with just over 7,000 interior design and architectural products. Our goal was to have 25,000 products by May. Well, we made that goal and then some. Say hello to the 30,000th product posted on Designer Pages, Sandbar Double Up, by Canlis Glass.

It’s an appropriate product for this milestone for two reasons.

1. It’s really awesome.
2. It’s from a niche supplier - the long tail of products.

This is just the start, our next goal is 50,000 products by September 2008. How about inviting some suppliers you like to help us get there!

Next on the agenda are some updates we released this week. We’ve added to new notification settings. The first is for suppliers, and it allows you to toggle (turn on / off) email notifications when you receive a request for product information from a designer. The second is for designers and it allows you to toggle email notifications when a supplier responds to your request for product information. The idea here is that when a designer requests information on a product, the supplier should be notified, so that they can respond quickly. When they respond, the designer really needs to know that their questions have been answered. So we figured it’s probably appropriate to send out emails in these situations. Since we know everyone likes a clean inbox, you can always turn these settings off. A small detail we added is that if a designer sends more then three requests to the same supplier in the same day, we’ll only send you three notifications because we think you get the point - the designer is interested in your products, login and respond to their questions.

Additionally, we’ve updated the format and copy on about half of the emails that Designer Pages sends out, like invitations and notifications. They are now more informative and easier to read. We’ll be updating the rest in the next week.
